The Big Bang @ IMHX 2019!
How to solve the returns problem in logistics.
Come and be part of solving one of logistics biggest problems! IMHX is the UK’s largest logistics and supply chain exhibition and this year their doors will be thrown open to schools from across the Midlands for the very first time. IMHX are working with the Big Bang Near Me Regional Programme to create a dedicated STEM zone within the exhibition on Friday 27th September, the final day of the three-day exhibition. The Big Bang zone, within the halls of the NEC, will be jam-packed with interactive exhibition stands, speaker sessions and fun, engaging workshops – all with a logistics and supply chain twist. “It can cost double the amount for a product to be returned into the supply chain as it does to deliver it,”
Ian Prince, KPMG.
– Reverse logistics involves all of the actions necessary to get a product back from the consumer to where the product came from.
Students at schools and colleges across the West Midlands are being invited to come up with a solution to a problem that is costing British retailers billions of pounds per year.
Learn by Design, in association with Think Logistics, is launching ‘Delivering Promises: How to Solve the Returns Problem in Logistics’ – a competition that challenges students to devise ways of reducing the damage caused to the environment and the massive costs incurred by retailers as they struggle to process the huge amount of goods that are bought online and subsequently returned.
The competition is part of The Big Bang programme of UK-wide events that aim to get students excited about science, technology and engineering.
The winning team will be presented with a cheque for £750 to be shared among the students, while the runners up, third and fourth-placed entries will receive £350, £250 and £150 respectively.
