L.E.A.D. Athletics Day

Sun, sports and celebration as L.E.A.D. Academy Trust schools take part in an Athletics Day at Harvey Hadden Stadium in Nottingham.

Year 5 and 6 students were star-struck by the line-up of Olympic & Professional athletes, who supported the day, to motivate and inspire learners to reach their goals. The athletes included:

Joanne Jackson – 3x Olympian
Tony Lormor – Former Professional Football Player (Newcastle United)
Pete Mills – England Badminton Player
Lois Peake – England Table Tennis Player

Each student was given an autograph sheet to be signed by the athletes, creating a buzz throughout the day. Amongst all the celebrity excitement, students took part in a range of ‘sports day’ activities, some of which they had never played before!

Lois Peake, England Table Tennis Player, said “My role for the day was to be an athlete mentor. I met so many eager students looking to get their autograph and find out more about what I do. I thoroughly enjoyed the day – It was great to see all the students beaming faces when they were taking part in the activities, often surprising themselves on how well they performed. The day provided lots of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of sports, that many students hadn’t played before.”

L.E.A.D. Academy Trust is made up of multiple schools across the East Midlands.

Their vision is: through outstanding leadership we will provide the highest quality education to enable every pupil to realise their full potential.
