NCS Outbound Call Agent

Job Description

We are a target driven business and you will play a fundamental role in generating sales from genuine leads. We have a fantastic opportunity for you to help to make a difference to teenagers' lives. This is an exciting and challenging role, so you need to be motivated and work comfortably and persuasively within a fast-paced environment whilst thinking on your feet. The Outbound Call Team forms a pivotal link between Learn by Design, NCS and our customers. You are responsible for ensuring all required calls are made using predetermined list of interested contacts to actively sell and encourage attendance our programmes.

You will ensure that all calls are actioned within Service Level Agreements, in a professional manner, as the voice of Learn by Design NCS whilst also ensuring that all calls are recorded as required. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record and relevant experience of working within a sales and target driven environment. Due to the nature of our lead generation this role doesn’t require any cold calls. You will also ensure we are providing the best service possible through clear, honest and transparent sales and communications using Salesforce, our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Location and Hours of Work

NCS powered by Learn by Design delivers NCS across England with our head office based in Tamworth. The hours for this role are between 4pm-8pm, Monday to Thursday. There is flexibility within this role for additional hours throughout the week and over the weekend as the programme progresses throughout the year.


The key objectives in the role are:

  • Converting leads into sales to ensure group targets are met

  • Make assigned calls relating to the orchestration of the NCS programme

  • Ensure all calls are made within Service Level Agreements

  • Engage with new, potential and confirmed participants of the NCS programme and parents

Essential Skills and Characteristics:

  • Confident and professional telephone manner

  • Ability to drive yourself to convert leads into sales and meet targets

  • Communicate with people at all levels

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Be able to handle objections for handle potential sales

  • Good customer service skills

Required Skills and Characteristics:

  • Proven track record of working within a sales and customer service environment

  • IT Literate

  • Previous telephony experience

  • Ability to problem solve and deliver results under pressure

Preferred Skills and Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of NCS programme.

  • Experience of CRM systems (preferably Salesforce).

  • Previous experience of working towards targets

What is National Citizen Service?

The NCS is the government's flagship youth programme for 15 to 17-year olds, launched nationwide in 2013. Over 400,000 young people have participated in NCS since it began, contributing millions of hours of social action in the process.

Participants experience residential activities away from home and team-based skill building sessions, before developing their own Social Action Project designed to benefit their local communities. The programme runs for three to four weeks (weekdays) in the summer and in a condensed version at other times during the year.

NCS aims to create a more cohesive, engaged and responsible society.

Salary: £8.21 per hour
