‘Our Future’ is funded by the Department for Education Opportunity Area and delivered by Education and Employers, Learn by Design and dmh Associates. Primary schools involved in the project will have the opportunity to access hundreds of business volunteers from a range of sectors using the Primary Futures programme and due to overwhelming demand the project is seeking volunteers from all walks of live to sign up and get involved.

Webinars

Throughout 2021, we will be delivering a series of CPD webinars to ensure teachers and senior leaders in schools are supported to embed careers related learning in the curriculum through the sharing of resources, case studies and best practise. These webinars will also provide schools with an opportunity to showcase their development and share their learning with other primary schools in Derby.

Primary Futures

Find out how teachers have used the Primary Futures portal to connect with volunteers.

Our Future Derby recently hosted a Careers Related Learning (CRL) free webinar to summarise the findings of the project, the progress it has made, recent evaluation findings and to showcase and share best practice and resources.

The webinar included:

  • Evidence based practice of what works and recognising this to continue best practice going forward

  • How OFD schools have embedded CRL into their school curriculum

  • Building relationships with schools and supporting them with CRL

  • Creating resources for sustainability of the project as the impact should be longer-term, not just for the duration of the project

  • Overcoming barriers for maximum impact

Parents survey

Over the coming weeks and months, the Our Future Derby team are keen to hear from parent(s)/carer(s) on their views about career-related learning. This is particularly important given the dramatic changes taking place in education and the world of work. We are inviting all primary schools engaged in Our Future Derby to send out this message below to parent(s)/carer(s) of children in your school.

Simply copy and paste the text below to include it in your communications with your parents & carers.

Dear Parent/Carer,

We hope you and your family are safe and well.
During these challenging times, we want to stay connected to hear your
