Aspiring Minds – The Challenge
Aspiring Minds is a programme set up by the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust which uses elite athletes to inspire young people to increase their motivation and future aspirations.
Learn by Design are responsible for designing and delivering Aspiring Minds – a programme full of activities and interventions which focuses on the attitude and personal success needed in the modern world.
The day is made up of a range of interactive workshops delivered to large groups by trained coaches and Olympic athlete mentors who provide students with an insight into; attitudes and skills for success, teamwork, communication, target setting and personal goals, problem solving, risk taking and creative thinking.
Since 2010 Aspiring Minds has been delivered in secondary schools across the UK providing over 3,000 young people with both a sense of belonging, and the skills and attitude required to achieve success.
One of the early programmes delivered for Lincolnshire Coastal Action Zone to motivate students with low aspirations in a harsh economic climate was well received by the schools and youth workers in the area. The workshop was flexible enough to complement existing school programmes and also had genuine and tangible benefits for young people in the area.
