'22, the England women's football team are calling on young people to challenge gender perceptions in football.

THE LIONESSES STEM PROJECT: ROADSHOW PROGRAMME

Working with The FA, the 1851 Trust have created a new national schools’ education programme inspired by the Lionesses which brings alive, for girls and boys, the wide range of skills and roles involved in elite football. Learn by Design are thrilled to be supporting the delivery of the sessions in schools.

The aims of the programme are: (i) to challenge perception around women and girl’s football; and (ii) to engage new groups of girls to try playing football.

The project will take place over 3 years, launching in February 2022. In the first year the programme will be part of the major event activity linked to Women’s Euro’s tournament.

In year 1, the 1851 Trust will launch:

- 3 new STEM teaching resources for KS3 students using the Lionesses as the elite sports team context; with each resource linked to a learning objective within the national curriculum.

- A national roadshow programme for KS3 students, both male and female delivering 8 days of interactive science and sport workshops harnessing the power of the England Women’s football team. Culminating in a youth led activity to challenge perceptions.

Proposed roadshow dates: School Summer Term 2022

Proposed roadshow venues: Inspiring venues in the WEURO 2022 host cities
