WIN a STEM day for your school

The Eco Explorer Club is a competition open to primary school learners in key stage 2 in the Tees Valley region. The programme includes a live, welcome webinar, a series of activities that you can work through with your learners, and even run an in-school competition to pick your best team!

One team from each school will be invited to a virtual semi-final, and the three winning schools from each local authority area will be invited to a celebratory event in the summer. The virtual semi-final, and celebratory event will be judged by a panel of local industry ambassadors, giving students multiple opportunities to engage with industry ambassadors.

The programme is set to inspire young people to be innovative in changing their environment to move towards becoming more green.

To give you a brief overview the programme will include:

  • A short welcome call with ourselves and other teachers where we will explain the competition programme

  • A virtual (webinar style) workshop to launch the competition with your learners (this will include engagement with industry ambassadors)

  • You will then have until June to work through the competition pack and run a mini in-school competition.

  • Your winning team will then be invited to a virtual judging with local ambassadors and the top three teams from each local authority area will be invited to a final face to face celebration event in the summer.

  • The winning school from each local authority area will then receive a face to face STEM workshop day for your learners on a given day in September/October.

Teacher Calls

Please join one of our teacher calls that will give an insight to the programme before you are sent the resources that you need to begin your in-school activities. These calls are hosted on Microsoft Teams and are scheduled for 30 minutes; all you need to do is let us know which call you want to join and the link will be sent to you the day before.

You can join this project at any time, but the deadline for entries will remain unchanged, as your school is allocated a presentation slot in the virtual semi-finals (there will be 5 semi-finals, one for each local authority area) which are taking place week commencing 14th June 2021.

To join the Eco Explorer Competition, simply click the link to drop us an email stating your preferred time for a teacher call and we'll take it from there.

We look forward to meeting you at a welcome call and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
