About the Workshop
Learners that participate in this workshop will understand the link between robotics and how they are used in the real world. This workshop uses VEX robotic equipment to develop teamwork, communication, technical, adaptability and problem-solving skills through a series of robotics tasks.
Students are introduced to current real-world examples of robots that are used in healthcare, entertainment, logistics and the armed forces, before taking part in the Mission to Mars. Teams are challenged to adapt their robot with attachments and quickly learn how to drive them, to complete a competitive task remotely and score the most points, imitating the action of the Mars Rover.
To support career-related learning in schools, we can provide a STEM ambassador that works in engineering, to support the session and offer an insight into the world of work.
This activity can be run as part of an exhibition fair stand. It can also be part of a full STEM day, which is a pre-planned full day for a whole year group to take part in. As part of the service, we can adapt the timetable to suit your school and can switch activities to suit your enrichment needs.
