Find Your Fit - An opportunity to make a difference to young people and your local community
Learn by Design are pleased to announce a new partnership Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership as they fund a dynamic NEET prevention and employability programme for young people within the Leicester and Leicestershire area. Designed and delivered by youth engagement and employability specialists Learn by Design, this programme aims to resolve the current risk of young people becoming NEET by meeting local skills gaps and jobs shortages in the area.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on young people, who have not only experienced disrupted education but are far more likely to have worked in a sector negatively impacted by the crisis such as retail, hospitality and customer service. We are seeing a rise in the local area of enthusiastic, committed and capable young people unable to progress in their career.
The ‘Find Your Fit’ Programme seeks to provide meaningful and personalised support to a group of 30 young people, currently not in education, employment or training within the Leicester or Leicestershire area.
Through this course, participants will receive a tailored plan based upon their individual skills and interests, undertake motivational training, develop their employability skills and where needed, gain a qualification in literacy, numeracy or a digital area.
A distinct part of this course, which will hold real value for the participants, is to include regular contact with local and national employers – particularly those who are experiencing skills gaps and job shortages.
This can be held either via a digital platform or through in-person delivery during one of our weekly contact sessions. It is an excellent opportunity for employers to meet with a group of capable, interested and motivated young people and to make a real impact on their career decisions and next steps.
